Nicely crafted instrument, with masterly carved scroll and accurately double inlaid purfling, turning into arabesque patterns on the back. This beautiful violin shows no open cracks or open seams, and there’re only some minor marks in it´s old varnish. An engraving at the upper back da ted 1910. The table is medium to fine grained spruce and the back is – as well as the neck and ribs – beautiful flamed maple. In our workshop the violin received a new setup with newly fitted elder ebony pegs, elder ebony tailpiece, elder ebony chinrest, a new bridge and new strings. These are new German silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid finger performance. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to allow a comparison of the tonality of each instrument in the videos. In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full tonal character of this violin!
