This beautiful 1889 Singer 13K Fiddle Based treadle head MEDIUM Sewing Machine with serial number 8787298 is in extremely good condition and was manufactured at the Singer plant in Scotland. This machine has the “Acanthus Leaves” decal set which was used by Singer on the 13K from 1879 to 1889. This was Singer version of the medium weight sewing machine made for heavy cloth and leather, its quite a bit bigger than the 12K and should handle almost any domestic and light industrial task. This Singer sewing machine is in good condition, the balance wheel turns smoothly with power and ease. The decal set, Acanthus Leaves, is in good condition This machine comes with a shuttle and bullet style bobbin. This is a fully functional sewing machine. The model 13 and 13K Medium machines were produced with different adaptations for specialist industrial work. The 13 and 13K models are easy to distinguish from the smaller New Family machines as they have an extra sliding inspection plate running out from in front of the needle plate. Like the New Family machines, the 13 and 13K models were originally a fiddle base design with gold Acanthus pattern decals. The model 13 and 13K machines used round shank straight 13×1 needles and a similar shuttle as the 12 K machines. This unique sewing machine would make an excellent addition to any collection. It is very rare and a great investment. In comparison to the high prices that the 221K and 222K Singers fetch this should be considered cheap. THIS MACHINE IS IN ORIGINAL, UNRESTORED CONDITION.
