This is a rare, high quality solid sterling silver small box modelled as a suitcase – please see the photos. The skill in the craftsmanship is clear and the detail is lovely – a moving handle and’stickers’ from around the world. It was crafted, and retailed by, the world famous Asprey & Co Ltd of Bond Street, London, hallmarked for London 2009. To the interior there is a light gilt wash. In good vintage condition overall, and ready for use, you can imagine what a thoughtful, unusual gift this stylish, quality piece would be for you to give – particularly to somebody for whom the year 2009 is of significance! HISTORY: Asprey & Co were established in 1781 and are one of the finest and most well-known producers of British jewelry and luxury goods in the world. Century onwards, the firm has been lauded as one of London’s leading manufacturers and retailers of silver. The company has a long and established relationship with British royalty dating back to the 1800s when Queen Victoria awarded the first Royal Warrant in 1862. Since then, Asprey has held a Royal Warrant for every British monarch and several other foreign heads of state. Most recently it has become the official retailer for luxury watchmakers, Rolex. As noted, it is in good vintage condition overall and ready for use, the usual signs of wear commensurate with age and use. For completeness of detail – surface/scuff marks, very, very light scratches, a few tiny little’nicks’ here and there. The hinge and lid are in good order and it opens easily by means of a thumb piece above the handle and closes firmly and securely.
