Beautiful, Rare Crown Staffordshire double Budgie Budgerigar By J T Jones. No1
This is a Beautiful, Rare Crown Staffordshire Double Budgerigar By J T Jones It is signed and numbered on the base and appears to have the number 1 next to the word Budgerigar. Could this mean that it was the first one of the run?? I have been unable to find another piece the same as this, so that makes me think that this is extremely rare The piece is in excellent condition for its age and only has a small piece of damage which I have tried to capture in the photographs, however unless you were looking for it it is hard to spot. Who is J T Jones? The Art Director at Crown Staffordshire for ovevr thirty years was J T (Jack) Jones. Born in 1898 Jack Jones joined Crown Staffordshire at the age of thirteen and worked for the company for forty-seven years. At the time of his death he was described as one of the leading designers of bone china table ware, but today he is probably known best for the range of bird groups that he designed for Crown Staffordshire. These ranged from large cockatoo figures to tiny wrens. I have tried to photograph this item as best I can from all angles. If however you have any questions please feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer. I’m having a major clear out and will be posting many more items for sale that you may like to have a look at. Many Thanks for looking.

A E JONES 1922 rare and beautiful Arts and Crafts hammered silver whisky quaich
This is a wonderful 1922 Arts and Crafts double handed whisky quaich by Albert Edward Jones, very much the darling of the Arts and Crafts silver ware of that era. Jones made pieces for Liberty & Co and other top retailers, such as Connell’s of Cheapside. This is a hammered silver whisky quaich and the design is sleek and simple, yet elegant with its hammered silver body, elongated handles and roundels of silver (four on each side). A E Jones is highly collectable and to find some of the more elegant pieces is becoming more and more a rarity. I find this a piece of art, which sums up the British Arts and Crafts movement of the early 20th Century. It is a wonderfully tactile piece and you could use it for a multitude of things. However, if you are looking for that very special something for a whisky buff… What a statement piece to gift! You could use it to present sweets or small fruit too. An absolute delight of a piece, which sings Arts and Crafts truly!! It is in good condition for its age and is clearly hallmarked on the front, with the date marks for Birmingham 1922 and with the maker mark A. It is stamped on the base with what looks like a serial number. Box is for display purposes only. The item “A E JONES 1922 rare and beautiful Arts and Crafts hammered silver whisky quaich” is in sale since Friday, March 5, 2021. This item is in the category “Antiques\Silver\Solid Silver\Bowls”. The seller is “tml66″ and is located in Durham. This item can be shipped worldwide.
