FINE QUALITY 18TH CENTURY GEORGIAN Faux TORTOISESHELL & SOLID SILVER INLAID PIQUE ETUI CASE This is a Stunning 18th Century Georgian Solid Silver & Faux Tortoiseshell Silver Inlaid Pique Work Etui , this I believe was crafted c1760 to 1780 it is a Classic Georgian style of this Georgian period, with wonderful inlaid silver work making it over 200 years old, there are no hallmarks but it does test Solid Silver, it has a Beautiful Elegant Shape to the Faux Tortoiseshell case with the most Stunning Beautiful Silver intricate Inlaid Pique work to both sides, it is charmingly inlaid with a stunning silver decoration to the base and the lid. The colours of the fauxTortoiseshell dance with deep rich browns and oranges, its stunning, the quality of the craftsmanship is breathtaking. There is a Silver Button to the side that opens the Lid, and the Hinge and Lid are in fair condition and it opens and then closes with a nice clicking sound there is a little play when shut. This Etui Case is so very tactile and once held has the most wonderful feel. This will add something very special and rare to any collection my photos don’t do it justice. This would have been owned by someone Wealthy in the Georgian Period. In Georgian times, etuis – word of French origin – were very popular, they came in a myriad of shapes and sizes, usually ornamental cases for holding articles such as needles, scent bottles and personal items. It is so tactile and you wont want to put it down when you hold it, condition is very good with just light wear to the edge of the Lid and this would surely add something special to any collection Size and WeightMeasures 6 cm tall.
