A rare & beautiful 165 year old Victorian Antique Mahogany Grandfather Clock. Made in Great Britain during the reign of Queen Victoria by Neill Brothers of Belfast in around 1855. Made from fine quality mahogany with a rare circular enamel dial with Roman numerals and inscribed Neill Brothers, Belfast. A true antique and a real piece of history. It would stand very proud in any room. This clock has the much more valuable 8 day movement which has been beautifully overhauled, its almost looks new. This much more desirable movement means it only needs winding once per week rather than the 30 hour movements which need winding every day. The brothers were also jewellers and opticians, making spectacles. There are a number of well known public clocks still in use today in Belfast that were made by the Neill Brothers. Then cabinet has a wonderful patina and glow, created over the last 160 years. A stunning piece of British & Irish history that was as essential in every wealthy household.
