An Exceptionally Rare & Beautiful 190 year old Regency Mahogany Square Piano By Renowned Maker John Broadwood & Sons. Made in London, England during the reign of King George III in around 1830 to an exceptional standard. These very rare piano were first seen in London in the late 1700s and caused quite a stir among the wealthy. Their beautiful softer sound compared with earlier keyboard instruments quickly became the height fashion. World class composers such Mozart and Beethoven quickly created new music to compliment their beautiful sound. What makes these instruments particularly rare is that they were replaced with replaced with upright and grand pianos in the late 1800s and have almost been forgotten. Made to wonderful proportions it would stand very proud in any room. This pianoforte is in a playable condition which is particularly rare and has recently been tuned to a major third below C by and expert in Gloucestershire. The mahogany has a wonderful glow and rich patina created over the last near two centuries. A wonderful piece of English history thats bursting with historic charm. The cabinet is charming and patina of bumps and knocks from 200 years of use. The legs are all solid and it stands beautifully. They screw one and off.
