A rare & beautiful 190 year old Georgian Antique Oak long case Grandfather Clock. Made in England during the reign of Queen Victoria in around 1830 to a fine standard by clockmaker Sam Thorpe of Abberley. The wonderful swan neck pediment with three brass finials stands proudly above a glazed door with brass pull flanked by fluted columns. The base with long trunk door and pane base raised upon bracket feet. The signed white painted dial with lovely fan spandrels and painted shells to the centre, date aperture and Arabic hours, striking on a bell. A true antique, it would very stand proud in any room. Then oak has a wonderful patina and rich glow, created over the last two centuries. A stunning piece of British history that was an essential in every wealthy household. This clock also has the more valuable 8 day movement so only needs winding once per week. Which has been wonderfully overhauled to a very high standard.
