A Rare & Beautiful 110 Year Old Edwardian Antique Roll Top Desk. Made in England during the reign of King Georgian V in around 1915 to a lovely standard. The beautiful large roll top slides to reveal a writing surface with fitted interior. Above a large central drawer flanked by brushing slides and three pedestal drawers on either side. The drawer fronts fitted with brass swing handles and all raised upon tapering legs and brass castors. All Made to lovely proportions it would grace any room. The wood has a rich colour and pleasing patina created over the last 110 years. A wonderful piece of English furniture to work and relax from. These desks feature a wonderful automatic locker system whereby the roller top pushes back onto a lever behind the drawers which automatically locks them all with a hook behind. So when you close the roll top the drawers are locked and when you push it back the drawers unlock. The mechanism is still in tack and working well, a little stiff so you may need to push back in the roll top to unlock a drawer. The original roll top lids would automatically lock when the lid is closed. Requiring a key to unlock. No key so the original roll top lock has been removed but is present and with the desk.
