BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SAMPSON MORDAN & CO MINIATURE SOLID STERLING SILVER PERFUME SCENT BOTTLE – LATER VICTORIAN ERA – HALLMARKED LONDON 1882. On offer is this beautiful antique Victorian Sampson Mordan & Co miniature solid sterling silver perfume scent bottle. It has lovely, unusual decoration in bright cut engraved silver. The pattern is’seamless’ as it continues from the lid to the body, with no interruption – please see the photos. To the top there is a circular blank cartouche. It has a flip top lid and, internally, the original little stopper is intact and in place. This beautiful piece of history is of the highest quality, by the highly collectable firm of Sampson Mordan & Co. It was crafted in the later Victorian era, hallmarked London 1882. In good antique condition overall, you can imagine what a lovely addition this rare and beautiful bottle case would be to any collection of Sampson Mordan silver, or for you to give as a thoughtful, unusual gift! Continued to make silverware until 1941, when their factory was destroyed by bombs during the London Blitz. Sampson Mordan & Co; London 1888. It is 5cm in height; 1.7cm in diameter across the base; and weighs just under 34g. As noted, in good antique condition overall, especially considering it is 140 years old, the usual signs of wear commensurate with age and use. The hinge and lid are in good working order, the glass stopper is intact and clearly the original. The only small points to note are that there is a slight bruise/dent to the blank circular cartouche, at the front, to the left, which I have tried to show on the photos. The internal glass tube has some cracks to it at the top but is complete, a common occurrence with these types of antique bottles. Any dark marks, etc are reflections or bits of age-related patina.
