Welcome to Jewel Box :. A lovely piece made with beautiful Vauxhall art glass from the Old Kingdom of Bohemia. Unusual to find these in a classic riviere design as i have never seen one online before. The riviere has been around for centuries and its classic simplicity has never been bettered. The panels of glass are in a stylish baguette cut and the facets catch the light beautifully adding dimensions to the vivid shocking pink made famous by Elsa Schiaparelli as’Le Shocking’. As my camera adds a wash of grey to everything the cloth is clotted cream and not grey! I cannot do it justice. The glass has a wonderful venetian mirror quality due to the foil backing and the brass that each stone is claw set into. The necklace is beautifully invisibly, articulated and so the neclace is sinuous and flows gracefully around the neck. It fastens with a secure ring bolt clasp in the earlier larger size. The necklace is app 17.6 inches long which is an excellent length for this age of necklace. The width is app 4.5 mm wide and each stone is app 7.5 mm. The glass is in lovely shiny, fresh condition and the brass is also in lovely condition. It would polish up if that is what you wanted but its better to leave a necklace as it is it took a long time acquiring this patina! In lovely unrestored original condition.
