RARE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN CARVED ANGEL SKIN CONCH SHELL CHUNKY TRADE BEADS NECKLACE 14CT GOLD CLASP. Victorian 1837 – 1901 Such an Amazing and Unique Piece! An extraordinary and rare antique Victorian hand-carved conch shell (strombus giga) chunky trade beads necklace, in a wonderful angel skin colour. The oval shaped beads are just beautiful – cold to the touch and very tactile. They graduate in size and have lovely grain markings, with blushes here and there. The largest central bead measures a whopping 29mm! The beads are hand-knotted on the original string, which still seems good and strong. The necklace fastens with a 14ct gold clasp, unmarked but professionally tested to at least 14ct. The necklace is long enough to go over the head without undoing the clasp. There are some natural and age related imperfections, as you would expect with a piece of this considerable age – there are two tiny nicks along the grain of the largest bead, which are very old and smooth (please see pictures) but there is nothing which detracts in any way from its immense charm. The beads are in Fantastic Condition for 120 or more years old. Everything is ALL ORIGINAL.
