Galluba & Hoffman Rare Large German Bisque Bathing Beauty

I have recently acquired a beautiful collection of vintage German bathing beauties and risqué bisque laydowns and figurals. This is one of the first to be listed. This large approx 7.75 nude laydown is attributed to Galluba and Hoffman. The detail and features are detailed and exquisite. I dont see any impressed numbers or markings, it may be under the wig which is affixed to the figure. I know that these dolls due to value have been repaired over the years, but from what I have learned from very knowledgeable collectors , I do not see any evidence of damage repair to this wonderful and vintage doll. I have looked it over carefully. I do feel a slight rough edge on the nose that may be a fleck, but cant see closely enough to tell actually what it is so please assume it is present but not noticeable Please review all pics carefully and. One of the rarest & most desirable of Galluba & Hoffman’s bathing beauties from the 1920s. Two full figured ladies, one standing with right arm out & left draped over the back of her companion, who’s seated on a two-step green seat, one leg pointed out & away from seat, the other leg bent & foot back to bottom step. Standing lady has pink molded & painted ballet-type shoes; seated lady has blue ones. It’s unusual to have original suits, even if frail. Well-marked on base (see last photo). Some almost inevitable old minor damage: standing figure has old repaired fracture on her left shoulder where the arm joins–the suit strap covers it; original silk net bathing suits are frail & worn/torn in several places; otherwise excellent. Hello, I hope this finds you well! From my personal collection, this antique carnival doll lamp is so unique! Made by the Unger Doll & Toy Company, Milwaukee Wisconsin. See her original label underneath! She is made of fiber pulp, like the old egg crates were made of. I believe her wig is human hair, maintains original hairnet & hair pin. Applied eyes, possibly silk. Old fabric electrical cord with original screw in socket. She does show some wear here and there, but she is 90 years old!! Rare Bathing Beauty Large 6.5 Antique Germany Doll Nude Antique Bisque. A VERY FINE AND RARE LARGE 6.25 INCH BATHING BEAUTY, NUDE, IN BISQUE MADE IN GERMANY. The bathing beauty is in wonderful condition with no chips or damage. She is 6.25 inches (16 cm long) and 2 inches (53mm) tall. The beauty is not signed. I believe it is made by Hertwig & Co. But could also be by Gebruder Heubach or Schafer and Vater or Galuba Hofmann or! As the Victorian era passed into the Edwardian and Roaring Twenties, a market developed for bisque and china bawdy novelties and figurines of women in revealing outfits. Although now most of these figurines seem more coy and cute than ribald and risque, in their time they symbolized the casting off of the perceived restraints of the Victorian era. These little lovelies included bathing beauties, who came clad in swimsuits of real lace or in stylish painted beach wear, as well as mermaids, harem ladies, and nudies, who were meant to wear nothing more than an engaging smile. Also produced were flippers, innocent appearing figurines who reveal a bawdy secret when flipped over, and squirters, figurines that were meant to squirt water out of an appropriate orifice. Most were manufactured in Germany from the late 1800s through the 1930s, often showing remarkable artistry and imagination. Incised numbers underneath 3737/ and 3738.2. Made in germany by Galluba & Hoffman, circa 1915. Absolutely original figure with no cracks, hairlines, chips or repairs of any kind. Just one tip of pinky finger broken to right hand. Otherwise, excellent overall condition.
