Beautiful & Exceptionally Rare Matching Pair of Christopher Dresser Copper Candlesticks C. These are exceptional finds being a pair of absolutely beautiful and extremely attractive Christopher Dresser designed copper and brass candlesticks. These eye catching copper candlesticks are of a typical Christopher Dresser aesthetic/arts & crafts design consisting of half beehive copper base extending to a brass column, which extends to a turned ebonised fruit wood handle and terminates in a stylistic copper and brass flower, I believe he designed it to be a stylised Tulip. They were licenced to produce these specific Christopher Dresser designed candlesticks, acknowledged as one of the most aesthetic designs of this late Victorian era, which was moving away from Gothic and Industrial designs and leading to Art Nouveau period. These interim pieces are highly collectable, rarely come onto the market as single candlesticks, and I have never seen as a pair before, and as a result the retail price could well be triple the asking price, especially in North America where they have their highest popularity. They are stunning pieces of design and wonderful reflection of the Arts and Crafts period. These beautiful matching pair of Dresser candlesticks are approx. 16cms high and approx. 8.5cms in diameter at the base. As some followers of mine will know, I dont like to clean things I find, I feel it removes a level authenticity especially when they are valuable pieces of history and true antiques. If you desire these cleaned please use a professional as they are too important to use over the counter, often abrasive and very corrosive, supermarket brass and copper cleaners.
