BEAUTIFUL LARGE ANTIQUE JAPANESE HAND PAINTED PORCELAIN SATSUMA VASE. This colourful handpainted early Japanese Satsuma Vase measures 1.1 ft high (32 cm). It is fully signed and marked on the base. It is a high quality design with fine quality painting, lots of detail and gold gilt work. The colours are particularly vivid, the portraiture fine and the abstract patterns particularly creative. The artist has made a lot of use of three dimensional hand painted glazing over a fine crackle glaze and has produced an ornate vase which catches and pleases the eye wherever it is placed. The vase makes a wonderful display for flowers but is equally distinctive when empty. There is a small hairline crack and small chip near the base of the vase and a small hairline crack over the lip. None of this interferes with the strength and ascetic beauty of the vase which is otherwise in excellent condition for its age. Buyers are encouraged to ask questions to make sure that the specifications of the item match their requirements.

Each panel is different with beautifully painted flowers and plants – wisteria, iris. Japanese maple, bamboo and more! The bracelet is highlighted in gold and is about 7 1/2″ long and 1/2″wide. This extremely rare whole set has 30 pieces: 12 coffee cups, 12 plates, 1 coffee pot, 1 sugar pot and 1 creamer. They was decorated with gold gild all the over, with hand painted flowers like lilies and chrysanthemums. They were made in the late Meiji era to early Taisho period in the early 1900s, when Japanese started to be heavily influenced by the Western culture and the industrial revolution was booming in Japan. Bases marked with Made in Japan. Its common to see a coffee set with 6 cups or even 8 cups. This set has 12 cups with no missing pieces! This is extremely rare!! Tea pot: 6.76 height, 3.5 diameter. Sugar pot : 4.4 height, 3.2 diameter. Creamer: 4 height, 2.9 diameter. Coffee cup: 2.2 height, 2 diameter. Plate: 4.2 diameter, 0.6 height. Condition: In good antique condition with reasonable signs of age with stains, wear and tear loss of paint, color and gilt. Theres a small chip on one of the coffee cups. Provenance: From the estate of a prominent family in San Francisco, was with the family for over 80 years.
