OVER 60 YEARS EXPERIENCE RESTORING & COLLECTING PHONES. ORIGINAL FINISH ON WOOD. JUST CLEANED AND POLISHED. OVER 50 BRASS PARTS POLISHED TO MIRROR FINISH. NEW CLOTH CORDS INCLUDING MODULAR LINE CORD. THIRD PARTY RECEIVER “MOTHER IN LAW” IS OPERATING. BRASS RINGER ON REAR OF TELEPHONE. TELEPHONE RINGS WHEN CALLED, ANSWERS AND OPERATES LIKE A MODERN INSTRUMENT. Early French telephones are hard to find as many were lost due to two world wars. French telephones are most always equipped with a 3rd party receiver often called “mother in law receiver” allowing another person to listen to conversation. WW2 movies often show the Gestapo listening in to conversations. This telephone required over 40 hours of tedious restoration as so many parts required polishing and the wiring is complicated. ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND INTERESTING TELEPHONES. ORIGINAL WOOD FINISH IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. NEW NICKEL PLATING ON ALL SOLID BRASS PARTS. CLOTH CORDS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THIRD PARTY RECEIVER (MOTHER IN LAW RECEIVER) IS WORKING. LINE CORD HAS MODULAR PLUG TO CONNECT TO MODERN JACK. RINGS AND ANSWERS INCOMING CALLS. VERY GOOD SOUND QUALITY. French telephone companies designed and manufactured the most beautiful, unusual and interesting telephones. Many are unlike anything produced in other countries. The third party receiver is unique to French telephones. Their modern telephones continue with this feature today. World War 2 movies often showed the Gestapo listening into conversations. The ivory button is for “mute”. When depressed the transmitter is turned off. During the 45 years I owned the premier telephone restoration co: CHICAGO OLD TELEPHONE CO I do not remember my staff of engineers, technicians or craftsmen restoring this model. They are very hard to find especially in this condition. No refinishing of the wood was required. I just cleaned and polished it. The nickel plating was in fair condition but got good enough for this caliber of telephone. My customers expect top quality restoration as possible without affecting the integrity or value of the telephone. French manufactured telephones are very hard to find as many were lost due to two World Wars. Older French telephones are very difficult to restore as they are quite different in design and construction. All fasteners are metric and some require special tools. This telephone required over 30 hours to restore. Your guests, family and friends will marvel at this telephone. Most people have never seen a telephone of this design.
