Interesting old quality violin in excellent condition. Please listen to the video/soundfile & scroll down to see all detailed XXL photos below as part of the description! Nicely crafted instrument, with masterly carved scroll and accurately double inlaid purfling on front and back. This beautiful violin shows no open cracks or open seams, and there’re only some minor marks in it´s old varnish. The table is medium to fine grained spruce and the back is – as well as the neck and ribs – beautiful flamed maple. In our workshop the violin received a new setup with newly fitted pegs, newly fitted elder ebony tailpiece and ebony chinrest, a new bridge and new strings. These are new German silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid finger performance. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to allow a comparison of the tonality of each instrument in the videos. In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full tonal character of this violin! Superb rare 4/4 Antique LIONHEAD violin beautiful tone cased bow rosin in VGC
Here we have a rare & Beautiful, full size, Lion Head violin, all in good playing order and condition. This beauty has a gorgeous, deep mature, sweet tone and plays superbly. Set up with a new set of Thomastik Dominant strings, and a new set of Jujube Hill style pegs, which work very well. The one piece back, is made from nicely figured flamed Maple, as is the sides and neck, with a fine to medium grained Spruce top, all in good condition, with some very minor scratches to be expected. A lovely collectable rare violin, which sounds as good as it looks, would suit an intermediate, to advanced player. This complete outfit comes with a modern lightweight case with shoulder straps and music pocket, plus a good working bow with plenty of hair, and good tension, plus a new tub of golden Rosin.
