SOLID 9CT GOLD ANTIQUE WATCH KEY, FOB, TEE BAR- SET WITH A BLOODSTONE INTAGLIO SEAL. A fantastic find, weighing approx 6 grams (5.9), this watch KEY was tested by our jeweller with an electronic tester and although there are no hallmarks it is solid 9 ct gold, the jeweller suggested that it was a hand made piece? – and was obviously never sent for assay. Inside the “business end” is a steel sleeve insert, as the gold would apparently have been too soft to have been used to wind a watch without getting worn and damaged. And it gets better! Set into the other end, is a carved, BLOODSTONE INTAGLIO, featuring a dove in flight, – beautifully carved. This is not a tiny little thing either, a good one and a half inches long, my jeweller commented that these larger keys he had seen on ANTIQUE WATCH chains being used as a “tee bar” threaded through the button hole and holding the weight of the watch and chain, – I found this interesting.
