A classic riviere a design that has been around for centuries and never bettered. But even all rivieres are not created equal, owing to the quality of the stones and the workmanship. This example has beautiful quality glass like large pools of lilac wine. The cutting is exquisite with table top fronts with star slices all around the edge and with the backs being deeply pointed with star cuts all around. The colour depends on the background and the light source but in any situation has beautiful clarity. When the necklace is placed under a UV light it changes colour to a pale ethereal eau de nil and this is due to the minerals placed in the glass for extra clarity and light refraction. This being the reason the glass is so lovely even to the naked eye. The glass is set open backed in its individual setting with lovely twin prongs that look decorative as well as being functional. The open settings allow the slight to flood in and make the most of the colour, cut and clarity. The links are soldered cheaper necklaces did not have this extra process. This kept the stones safe and ensured that it hung beautifully and did not snarl up (like some do). The necklace fastens with a secure ring bolt clasp. The necklace is app 15.95 inches long. The individual settings are app 9 mm. The metal is Rhodium plated. Rhodium is a derivative of Platinum and is used to this day to protect precious metals in Fine Jewellery. It is in beautiful condition. The glass is in lovely shiny, fresh condition a lovely un molested original! A wonderful’forever’ piece. Presented in a ribbon tied gift box. It depicts a perfectly proportioned and superbly sculptured beautiful Orientalist Harem Sword Dancer. Almost all of the original cold paint on this gorgeous piece is still intact. It sets on an elongated 8 sided marble base that conforms to the bronze base the dancer is on. From the bottom of the marble base to the top of the dancer’s left hand it measures a little more than 11 inches. Not including the marble base, the bronze sculpture measures 8 inches tall to the top of the dancer’s left hand. From the tip of the sword in her right hand to the back of the sword handle in her left hand it measures 6-1/2 inches wide. The marble base measures 3-1/8 inches high, 4-1/4 inches wide and 2-3/8 inches deep. Weight 4.6 lbs. This is another extremely rare antique Orientalist Vienna bronze, that we have never had the opportunity to see before.
