Beautiful old MAGGINI violin from the Gottlob Schuster workshop – Markneukirchen / Germany 1901! Nicely crafted instrument with masterly and widely crafted scroll with the Maggini extra twist and accurately double inlaid purfling on front and back. This beautiful masterpiece shows some marks in it´s old amber varnish, but no open cracks or open seams. The table is finely grained spruce and the back – like ribs and neck – is intensely flamed maple. The violin was completely revised in our workshop and received new setup with newly fitted elder ebony pegs, tailpiece & chinrest, a new bridge, new soundpost and new strings. These are new German silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid performance. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to provide a comparison of the tonal qualities of each instrument in the videos. In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full character of this violin! Beautiful antique violin in immediate playing condition!
