BEAUTIFUL RARE ART DECO SOLID SILVER BIRD TOP HAT & TAILS POUNCE POT. This is a rare very beautiful Art Deco Solid Silver Novelty Bird Pounce Pot shaker, this wonderful pounce pot dates to circa 1920, making it nearly 100 years old, the design and decoration is so very stylish and so very elegant with its push on solid silver head that has so much detailing from his fabulous hinged Top Hat that reveals the holes that you would have shaken the pounce from , wonderful beak, lovely eyes, down to his dapper bow tie, the body is crafted is a smooth rounded solid silver with his engraved feathers and wings to each side, on his back his tail gently tips upwards giving the appearance of tails, he is standing very proudly on his solid silver clawed feet , he is beautiful, so he is a top hat and tails bird silver pounce pot , the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this would have once belonged to a wealthy Gentleman or lady and sat pride of place on there writing desk, they would have sprinkled the pounce onto the wet ink to speed up the drying process in a time when things were so very different and letter writing was done daily by hand, he is in excellent condition. There is a tiny mark to the back of his neck but so small i cant make it out, i have been informed this may be Austrian. This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it.
