A Rare & Beautiful Early 20th Century Fall Front Bureau made from the very rare and much prized Ocotea Bullata (Stinkwood). This highly sort after and much prized wood by cabinet makers produces a extremely fine and smooth grain. This timber is no longer available commercially and is now a protected tree in South Africa. The evergreen tree which grows up-to 30 meters tall is indigenous to the high forests of South Africa. The beautiful panelled fall front cover lifts to reveal a fitted interior of miniature drawers, pigeon holes and a writing surface. The base fitted with two shaped drawers with brass plate handles and escutcheons. All raised upon cabriole legs with ball and claw feet. Made to wonderful proportions it will stand proud in any room. We don’t believe in the usual huge mark ups. We hand-pick every piece of antique furniture and pride ourselves on our low prices. Quality you can trust for far less! The middle of this box displays a lovely Asian water scene and the entire box is decorated ornately with flowers and intricate design. There is a small amount of inlay loss and the lid is slightly lifted on the left side as you can see from the front view photo. There is no key for the lock. The wood is deep, dark, rich and smooth. A Rare & Beautiful 50 Year Old Mid Century Fall Front Bureau. Made in England during the 1970’s to a lovely standard. The fall front cover lifts to reveal a fitted interior of pigeon holes and a writing surface. The base fitted with a pair of sliding doors enclosing a shelf. All raised upon tapering legs. Made to wonderful proportions it will stand proud in any room. We don’t believe in the usual huge mark ups. We hand-pick every piece of antique furniture and pride ourselves on our low prices. FINE RARE ANTIQUE MID 18. CENTURY SOLID STERLING SILVER & TURNED WOOD PUNCH LADLE – GEORGE II COIN INSERT TO BOWL 1758. On offer is this fine, rare antique George II era, mid 18. Century, solid sterling silver and wood punch ladle, with a lovely decorative bowl in repousse silver, George II coin insert to centre of bowl 1758 – please see the photos – and they do not do it justice. Due to their size, these ladles are always difficult to photograph satisfactorily, to show all the wonderful crafting and detail. The bowl has a monogram attractively engraved to the front which, judging by the style, appear to be contemporary to the piece. Unbranded, no hallmarks, as was common with these types of coin insert ladles. About 33cm in length; 5.5cm by 6.5cm across the bowl, including the lip; and weighs 44g. It is in good. Antique condition, especially considering it is 264 years old, the usual signs of wear commensurate with age and use. The handle is firmly attached, as is the silver finial, there are no splits or dents, or signs of repair, as far as I can tell. If you have any questions, please ask.
