A Rare & Beautiful 110 year old Antique Edwardian Mahogany Inlaid wardrobe made by the famous Gillows, furniture maker to the king. Made in England during the reign of King George V In around 1910 to a beautiful standard. With a beautiful deep double arched pediment over two mirrored doors with line inlay detail with a feature central panel with beautiful inlaid detailing. The base fitted with two drawers with lovely brass swing handles. All raised upon bracket feet. Made to wonderful proportions, it would grace any room. The wood has a wonderful colour and Patina created over the last 110 years. A beautiful piece of English history thats overflowing with historic charm. This piece looks wonderful. The wardrobe splits into 5 pieces for easy transport and slots into position without any screws. Drawers open and close nicely although a little stiff. The sides of the pediment on the top have been planed down a little to allow it to fit into a particular space at some point in history. Height 213 cm – Width 155 cm – depth 50 cm. The large shaped top over a central drawer with ornate brass pull ring handles flanked by two inlaid cupboard doors enclosing a shelf. All with lovely inlaid detailing throughout. All raised upon beautiful tapering legs. Beneath the central drawers is the addition of a later small cupboard with sliding door. Made to beautiful proportions, It will stand very proud in any room. RARE BEAUTIFUL VICTORIAN SOLID SILVER INLAID SHIELD SHAPE CIGAR HOLDER-TRAY. This is a beautiful Rare & Heavy Fine Quality Victorian Solid Silver Inlaid Sheild Shape Cigar Holder Tray, i would estimate it dates to circa 1870 making it over 150 years old, is in lovely original condition, the solid silver inlay is so beautiful with foliage, grapes and scrolls all set within silver inlaid panels, the centre which is heart shaped also has a beautiful silver inlaid foliage, also again to the side of this wonderful Ciagr holder it has an inlaid design with a wavy edge, the decoration is typical of this era with a nod towards after dinner drinking wine and smoking cigars, this looks beautiful in contrast with the dark grey- black metal body which i believe to be pewter, its beautiful, the design is very special, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb as you would expect. I can imagine this would have either belonged to a wealthy Gentleman and been used after dinner when the Gentlemen would withdraw to the room just for the Gentlemen or maybe it would have sat on a table in a Gentlemans Club which were popular in the Victorian Period. This was many years ago when times were so very different. This is so very tactile and once held has a wonderful feel, my photos dont do it justice. This will add something special to any collection.
