The desire for lighting at Christmas has been around for hundreds of years. Since the time Martin Luther introduced the candle lit tree to his family. During the early years, melted wax supported candles on tree branches; then came tin candle clips and candle enclosures of assorted styles. Our collection features this cardboard multi view Christmas candle lit lantern with beautifully printed classic images on translucent paper which glow in twelve windows with candle light. MUSEUM QUALITY FOLDUP CANDLE LANTERN. EXTREMELY RARE cardboard folding lantern with beautiful Christmas images on translucent paper held by 12. Panels all in a intralocked framework so the lantern can either be folded for storage or extended by its hanger allowing its centrally held candle to illuminate the imagery in each of the 12 panels. A tin candle holder is attached to the base and is unused with arms never shaped to hold candle; wire bail is attached for hanging. Cardboard is actually a familiar tan color not the greenish color in photos. Pristine condition without issues. Extremely rare and highly valued. Made in Germany according to references.
