Rare Antique Early Victorian Sterling Silver Cuff Links Gryphon Lion Open work

These rare, early antique Victorian cufflinks are made of sterling silver and feature an intricate openwork design of a Gryphon-type Lion. They showcase a beautiful chain link style and have been intricately engraved. The cufflinks are handmade with attention to detail and have a gothic theme. Not marked but tested on a stone with 18k acid (see picture). Excellent condition, really a rare find.

A classic riviere a design that has been around for centuries and never bettered. But even all rivieres are not created equal, owing to the quality of the stones and the workmanship. This example has beautiful quality glass like large pools of lilac wine. The cutting is exquisite with table top fronts with star slices all around the edge and with the backs being deeply pointed with star cuts all around. The colour depends on the background and the light source but in any situation has beautiful clarity. When the necklace is placed under a UV light it changes colour to a pale ethereal eau de nil and this is due to the minerals placed in the glass for extra clarity and light refraction. This being the reason the glass is so lovely even to the naked eye. The glass is set open backed in its individual setting with lovely twin prongs that look decorative as well as being functional. The open settings allow the slight to flood in and make the most of the colour, cut and clarity. The links are soldered cheaper necklaces did not have this extra process. This kept the stones safe and ensured that it hung beautifully and did not snarl up (like some do). The necklace fastens with a secure ring bolt clasp. The necklace is app 15.95 inches long. The individual settings are app 9 mm. The metal is Rhodium plated. Rhodium is a derivative of Platinum and is used to this day to protect precious metals in Fine Jewellery. A rare antique Austria – Hungary silver open. Salt cellar / bowl, the inside of the cellar / bowl still has some. Gold plating on silver. Under a powerful magnifying glass. The partly faded hallmarked date below looks like its from 1815. But I could be mistaken. It has minor scratches, tarnish, and there is a crack. Near its rim, looks like its soldered joint has worn out, please see. The last two pictures taken from outside and inside, it is. And in an overall very good. Condition for its age. This is an Extremely Rare fine quality Pair George II , 18th century Solid Silver Open Couldron Salts, crafted i believe by the world renowned 18th Century London Silversmiths David Henell they were Assayed in London in 1750 making them 269 years old, each open salt has been crafted beautifully which breath taking embossed flowers, foliage and scrolls in abundance, they each sit upon three hoof shaped feet with the most ornate embossed collars to the top of the legs, to the inside they still retain their rich gilt finish, they are so very rare and so extremely special, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb , these would have once belonged to a wealthy family in the 18th century and once sat pride of place on the dining table at many of a fine dinner party they would have thrown, imagine how beautiful they would have looked glistening and sparkling against the light of candles, this was many years ago when things were so very different, if these salts could talk imagine what fascinating stories they could tell, they are so very tactile and once held have the most wonderful feel, they are so beautiful, fully hallmarked.
