Pair of Rare Salvaged 19th Century Antique Solid Oak Hand-Carved Wood Panels. This is an original pair of antique hand carved Oak Panels. They have been salvaged and believed were carved in France in the latter half of the 1800’s and would have adorned a majestic piece of Victorian/Edwardian furniture and later thankfully salvaged from the damage of the second world war. The panels each sit within an original hand crafted oak frame edging and each is beautifully and deeply carved with an oblong cabochon centrepiece surrounded by scrolls and foliage on both sides. Richly crafted, from one of the hardest of woods – solid oak – in extremely high relief with amazingly sharp detail. Including their original oak edging – the panels each measure 14.5″ x 11″ inches (37x28cm). They are in excellent and original condition having no cracks, splits, worm damage or repairs. The photos do not show the warmth of the wood and the beautiful patination that only the passing of years can build. Could they lift your diy project?
