This is a rare antique Venetian glass trade beads necklace from Mali. Which I bought strung on raffia in a shop specialized in ethnic jewellery. I had it restrung on nylon and closed with a golden metal lobster clasp. The majority of the beads are black with a gorgeous yellow and bronze design. Behind the neck there are a dozen black beads with white and red design. I have never seen other Venetian trade beads with bronze in them. These trade beads were likely crafted during the 19th century. They are becoming increasingly hard to find, especially with this design. It is rare to find an entire intact strand of these special beads. Length of the necklace: 62 cm (24.40 inches). The beads have a diameter of 8 mm (0,31 inches), those behind the neck are slightly smaller. Weight of the necklace: 105 grams (3.70 ounces).
