This is a Beautiful, Rare Crown Staffordshire Double Budgerigar By J T Jones It is signed and numbered on the base and appears to have the number 1 next to the word Budgerigar. Could this mean that it was the first one of the run?? I have been unable to find another piece the same as this, so that makes me think that this is extremely rare The piece is in excellent condition for its age and only has a small piece of damage which I have tried to capture in the photographs, however unless you were looking for it it is hard to spot. Who is J T Jones? The Art Director at Crown Staffordshire for ovevr thirty years was J T (Jack) Jones. Born in 1898 Jack Jones joined Crown Staffordshire at the age of thirteen and worked for the company for forty-seven years. At the time of his death he was described as one of the leading designers of bone china table ware, but today he is probably known best for the range of bird groups that he designed for Crown Staffordshire. These ranged from large cockatoo figures to tiny wrens. I have tried to photograph this item as best I can from all angles. If however you have any questions please feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer. I’m having a major clear out and will be posting many more items for sale that you may like to have a look at. Many Thanks for looking.
