Rare Beautiful Antique c. 1835 Octagonal Neo classical Hand painted Ironstone Jug
This rare and beautiful gilded antique Jug is a true gem for any collector. Made around 1835 and similar to Mason’s style jugs, it features embossed neoclassical designs with hand-painted birds and butterflies. The octagonal shape and earthenware production style make it a unique addition to any decorative collection. Crafted from Ironstone, this original piece is unmarked and comes with a vintage charm that will add character to any space. The production technique of pottery adds to the jug’s overall aesthetic value. This antique jug is a must-have for those who appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of the past. The jug is in good condition with no chips or cracks to the main body and looking as though it has been lightly used. The beautiful hand painted decoration is very crisp, bright and clear. There is some wear to the gilding around the rim on one side of the jug and some crazing in the centre of the underside. There is a fine drying out crack where the head connected to the handle was attached but this does not affect the main body. Width including handle: 12cm approx. Height: 13.5cm approx.
