This Mamiya DSX 1000B has been in my collection for quite a while. The Mamiya DSX 1000 series was well ahead of its time with both spot and average metering. Besides the black paint, the DSX 1000B has one additional feature that the DSX 1000 does not have: a shutter release lock. Just about all M42 screw-mount lenses are usable on the DSX 1000B but they will require stopped-down metering. To get full-open metering, you’ll need a Mamiya-Sekor SX lens. I do not have time to film test this camera but I did test the meter against my personal Nikon F3. I tested it with a Super-Takumar 55/1.8 lens mounted which, of course, requires stopped-down metering (lens is not included). Both average and spot metering modes are working, and readings are off by a couple of stops (underexposing) compared to my F3. Needle movement is briskly responsive with nice, smooth action. That is certainly in usable tolerance once you know how to compensate; it is a manual camera, and you control the exposure, after all. Another nice feature is that this camera takes a single A76 1.5v silver oxide battery; I will leave a fresh battery in place for you. The Super-Takumar lens is NOT included. Finally, you also get an original printed Mamiya DSX 1000 instruction manual in excellent condition. Returnable if not as described.
