Beautiful Rare Antique c1900 Italian Bowl Back Mandolin, Luigi Poppi of Palermo

Beautiful Rare Antique c1900 Italian Bowl Back Mandolin By Luigi Poppi of Palermo. This pretty mandolin is unusual in that it was made in the Sicilian capital rather than in Catania, a renowned centre of stringed instrument manufacture on the island. It has a very close-grained spruce top, edges with contrasting lozenges of ebony and mother-of-pearl and delicate purfling. Some of the lozenges are missing, as seen in the photos. The soundhole rosette is decorated with a variety of shapes in mother-of-pearl and more purfling. There is some slight wear to this, which can be seen in the photos. The scratchplate is in the form of a butterfly, and incorporates lots of abalone. The rosewood bowl and clasp are nicely trimmed with tulipwood. The fingerboard has mother-of-pearl fret dots. The headstock has a cut-out as favoured by many Italian makers. The enclosed tuners and stringposts are brass, as is the. The nut, saddle and tuner buttons are bone. It currently only has 2 strings and will need to be restrung. The overall length is 24, the table is 8 at its widest point. New to the market. Antique rare late Victorian c1900 solid Silver dip pen Cylindrical shaped body. It is in good antique condition, as pictured it has original nibs with it and is ready to go. As is often the case with these small items of silver of this design & from this period it is not hallmarked but It has been tested to confirm it has a high Silver content. Lovely collectors item, a must for any serious collection. X 10mm (0.5) wide. Condition: This delightful large dip pen is in good condition with , no restoration. But a few small knocks along the barrel consistent with being over 120 years old. These knocks can be polished out but I prefer to leave items showing use and character. Beautiful very rare antique. I have left the silver unpolished as I feel it adds to its original character, if you wish I could polish it up to a gleaming Finnish, I will leave it for you to decide. This is a Beautiful Victorian 18ct Gold Plated Nude Lady Rectangle Snuff Box, this i believe was crafted c1900 making it around 120 years old, this is a Beautiful Victorian Snuff Box, crafted all over in 18ct Gold Plated and is stamped inside the Lid with 18ct Gold Plated, it is Beautifully designed with Engine Turned Criss Cross Pattern all over. To the front is a small thumb piece and the Hinge is good, it opens and closes nice and tight. There is a little wear to the inside Lid on the Gold Plate otherwise it is in lovely condition, to the Lid is a raised Enamel Portrait of a Lady in her room undressed and combing her long Hair, this would have been owned by someone Wealthy in the Victorian period, when things were very different to today, this is a very collectable Antique and this would add something special to any collection.
