Beautiful Rare Vintage Carved Mens House Gable Finial, Papua New Guinea, PNG

To see more fine oceanic artefacts. This is a stunning vintage carved Mens House Gable Finial from the Palembei Village, Middle Sepik of New Guinea. The finial is a component of a ceremonial houses architecture, adorning the gabled roof. Typically, a finial is found on the peak of the triangular gable of the house, looking down on the men as they enter and leave the ceremonial house. The ceremonial house serves as a space reserved for initiates of the mens society. The space is highly coded as a space important to the mens society, with prominent painting and carvings throughout, a high-peaked roof, and highly decorated interior, all adding to a sense of monumentality. This stunning rare finial is a spirit female figure which has a carved part bird, part crocodile most likely an eagle perched on the spirit form. The bird may be a totemic reference to the clan or community. Some rare mens houses iconographic decoration is perceived as female, even though solely males use the space. Both spirit faces are covered with paintings of clan patterns with cowrie shell for eyes. The middle female spirit is sitting a top a snake. This finial lies in the domain of manhood because of its eagle form and its connection to a ceremonial houses roof gable. This finial is one component to an overwhelming ensemble of imagery, sculpture, and architecture that creates an intensely coded space. The bird of the finial represents strength pertaining to war and its prominent place on the front of the house demarcates the structures importance to the strength of its community. The house serves primarily as a meeting place and ceremonial space for the living community, rather than its importance to the dead. This is a stunning wood finial carving. Hello, thank you for viewing my watch! I bring to your attention a. Beautiful Rare Exclusive vintage mens. CASE: the case is — The new steel case. It is in good condition. The diameter of the case is 48.0mm, thickness of the case with the glass – 16.0mm. Also on a case on a face sheet and on a face sheet of ears there is an engraving which is finished by the master hands which is very well combined in harmony with disks. With top and from below there is a glass – hypoallergenic (does not call an allergy). Hours have been checked up. Hours of this press as believe, are very rare and qualitative. The norm has been adjusted carefully. The Rate was Regulated carefully. A dial made of silver — dials made of silver — dials, 925 samples made of silver, made specially for this movement by hand, in excellent condition and with good visibility. On the dial you can see the Masonic elements too. Some parts of the dial are coated with synthetic enamel: yellow, blue, and red. Around there are stones – pink (zirconium), which indicate the time. The glass is made of glass. It is in excellent condition. HANDS: have a white color, which has light that accumulates during the day and is clearly visible at night. MECHANISM: the mechanism is in excellent condition. It has very good rate, keeps time well and looks ideal. The diameter of the mechanism is 43.0mm. Here you can see the subtle handwork of an engraver, who decorated the mechanism with carving and engraving in the best traditions of the jeweler’s art. The mechanism is in excellent condition, goes perfectly. All details of the mechanism were fine saved for today, and will serve still very long time. Fine gilt mechanism was very well saved for today. Very nice and attractive work of engraver-jeweller and nice gilt underlines the beauty of the watch! The watch was checked, regulated, cleaned and oiled and itll work its term. Hours are on sale and are in such good status (such as is).
