Presenting a Scarce and Very Early, Beautiful Antique Soft Paste Porcelain Reticulated Chestnut Basket which was Made at the Worcester Factory in the First Period and Dates to the Mid 18th Century. Hand Decorated at James Gile’s Atelier in London Depicts an Urn Draped with Flowers with Merlin’s Face to the Front Framed with a Delicated Gilt Chain Surrounded by a Dark Blue Border which is Further Over Painted with Trailing Gilt Fruiting Vine The Exterior of Spiral Reticulated Wall is Decorated with Applied Moulded Daisy Flowers, the Interior Reticulated Wall is Adorned with Hand Painted Flowers The Twist Handles Either Side are Decorated with Spiral Gilt Highlighs with Pretty Applied Flower and Foliate Attachments. Measures 23 cm Wide No Makers Mark See Last Photos for Attribution Displays Beautifully and in Good Order for Imense Age, but has a hairline crack each side of lower body, a small chip to base rim, there is a section of old glued repairs below and to one side of handle, with an associated sliver of porcelain missing. RARE Antique Pressed Glass Bathing Beauty Figure

I bought this from a picker here in Arizona. I’ve never seen another like it. I’m viewing it as either something that was a tourist item or its from a series of glass bathing beauties. It has writing in pencil at the base of her feet saying- SPORT IN VINITA. My research came up with nothing when I punched that phase in other than Vinita Oklahoma. So maybe its a souvenir piece from there. It’s an interesting piece of pressed glass, incredibly well molded exuding crisp details. Then it appears to have been factory painted and hand-decorated as the face is delicately detailed. I want to date this from 1910-20 period, perhaps into the 20’s by the style of the bathing suit. She measures 6 1/4 tall. I’m going to see if I can find out where she was made. Neat piece of glass. Thanks for looking and Good Luck.
