Amazing beautiful antique and rare bronze medal with high reliefs of St. George
Amazing beautiful antique and rare bronze medal. With high reliefs of. George, also known as George of Cappadocia and George of Lida was, according to tradition, a Roman soldier in the army of Emperor Diocletian, venerated as a Christian martyr. George is one of the most venerated saints in Catholicism, the Orthodox Church, as well as the Anglican Communion. The legend of St. George and the dragon is told in the Legenda Aurea, the collection of hagiographic biographies composed by Jacopo da Varazze, Bishop of Genoa, in medieval times. According to legend, in the city of Salem, Libya, there was a lake inhabited by a huge and eternally hungry dragon. The inhabitants of the region tried to appease him by offering him sheep and goats, but at some point the cattle were no longer enough and the dragon demanded humans as an offering. The locals thus began to hold a macabre lottery among their children, thus choosing who should be sacrificed to the dragon’s insatiable hunger. When Princess Silene, daughter of the local king, was also drawn, St. George appeared at the gates of the city. He proclaimed that God had sent him to defeat the monster, provided that all the inhabitants of Salem accepted faith in Christ. The king and all his subjects agreed to be baptized, and so St. George confronted the dragon, reduced him to meekness, and sent the princess to lead him into the city, bound with a simple belt. Upon seeing the miracle, everyone was converted and the dragon was killed. The medal has 9.7 cm diameter, and 5 mm to 8mm thickness. It’s numbered 73. Only 100 were made. International buyers are welcome.

Matadi, port city, extreme Democratic Republic of congo. It is located along the Congo River, opposite the city of Vivi. Matadi is located 150 km upstream of the Atlantic port of Banana and is the farthest point of the river reached by ocean going vessels; cataracts prevent further navigation upstream. Located at the base of the Crystal Mountains, the city is named after the word Kikongo for stone. Beautiful Antique and rare bronze medal of Shakespeare 1564-1616
Author of famous tragedies such as “Hamlet”, “Othello”, “Macbeth” and “Romeo and Juliet”, he was considered one of the greatest literary figures of the English language. William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick County, England, on 23 April 1564. The son of John Shakespeare and Mary Arden, his father was a wool merchant and became treasurer and mayor of Stratford. William began his studies in his hometown, but at the age of 13 the family impoverished having the young man to drop out of school and work in his father’s trade. At the age of 18, he married villager Anne Hathaway, nine years older than him. Five months later, his first daughter Susan was born, and then the twins, Judith and Hamnet. By this time, Shakespeare was already writing verses and watching all the representations of the companies that arrived in Stratford. In 1586, young Shakespeare became involved in bad company being forced to leave his family and take refuge in London. He worked in various roles, including horse keeper at the door of the theatre of James Burbage, London’s first theatre. Soon i was providing services behind the scenes. At that time, during the reign of Elizabeth I, London was experiencing an intense artistic activity. Shakespeare studied hard and read classical authors, novels, short stories and chronicles, which were fundamental to his dramaturgy training. Shakespeare became the company’s official copyist and also played small roles. In 1589 he already adapted pieces by anonymous authors and wrote the largest number of plays presented at the Globe Theatre. During the various seasons interrupted by the black plague, Shakespeare began to excel as an actor and playwright. Shakespeare’s art comprises 37 plays, 2 long poems and 154 sonnets, probably written between 1953 and 1958, as well as several verse excerpts. His plays consist of 17 comedies, 10 dramas and 10 tragedies that portray English society during three centuries of its evolution. His two narrative poems are: “Venus and Adonis” (1593), based on Ovid, and “Lucrezia” (1594), based on Titus Livius, typically Renaissance works dedicated to his protector Henry Wriotherly, Count of Chamberlain. Shakespeare’s dramatic art was divided into three phases accompanying the playwright’s maturation. In the first phase, Shakespeare would have written cheerful comedies, plays of English history and Renaissance-style tragedies. In 1594, he was already a distinguished member of the best company of the time, Lord Chamberlain, known from 1603, as the Royal Company, the most important group to occupy the Globe Theatre. They are from this time. The Comedy of Errors (1591). Henry IV (1592) (the first piece of English history). The Tamed Shrew (1593). Romeo and Juliet (1594). Dream of a Summer Night (1595). The Marketer of Venice (1596). Love’s Labour’s Lost (1598). Much Noise Around Nothing (1598). How You Want (1599). The Merry Comadres of Windsor (1600). Night of Kings (1602). “Romeo and Juliet” was Shakespeare’s first major work where he embodied unrealized love. An insipid narrative poem by Arthur Brooke has been transformed into the most celebrated of all love tragedies. It is one of the most famous works of the playwright. “Hamlet” (Hamlet, Prince of Denmark) is an ostensibly philosophical work. In Hamlet’s famous monologues all the values of the Renaissance and the human condition are called into question. In the famous phrase “To be or not to be, here’s the question”, Hamlet wants to sleep and dream, but asks if the dream of death will not be a dream like the others. Hesitant between the cold execution of revenge and the sense of pity, Hamlet rebels against fate. This tragedy, the doubt and despair of the lonely prince in the face of the violence of the world is considered the most enigmatic of all the author’s pieces. In the second phase, Shakespeare is the Baroque playwright of the grandiose tragedies and bitter comedies, true pieces of black humor. In 1603, he became a partner of the Globe Theatre. From this time are the pieces. All Is Well If It Ends Well (1603). Measure By Measure (1603). Antony & Cleopatra (1607). Shakespeare was masterful in dealing with the characters who populated his world. In the work, “Othello”, the Moor of Venice, “Iago” is, among all the criminals of the playwright, the most diabolical. “Macbeth” is the summary of ambition and remorse, being considered the author’s most tragic work. In 1611, after accumulating some fortune, Shakespeare retired to Stratford, where he already owned houses and land. The third phase of Shakespeare’s work is marked by less tragic plays, with conciliatory outcome, among them. Henry VIII (1613) (written in partnership with John Flecher). William Shakespeare died at Stratford-upon-Avon on 23 April 1616, shortly after he had made his will. He was buried at Trinity Church in Stratford. Over the years, Shakespeare became the greatest playwright of universal literature and his consecration is due to his remarkable and complex characters, the dynamics of his plays and the richness of his verses. It’s easier to get what you want with a smile than to the tip of the sword. Passion increases due to obstacles that oppose it. Men of few words are the best. Crying over past misfortunes is the safest way to attract others. Having an ungrateful child is more painful than the bite of a snake! The medal has 8.8 cm diameter, and 6 mm thickness. International buyers are welcome. This item is in the category “Coins & Paper Money\Exonumia\Medals”. The seller is “pint_abil” and is located in this country: PT. This item can be shipped worldwide.
