Antique Asahi Shoten Japanese Silvered Box c 1930s Meiji Period A Rare Beauty
Asahi Shoten Silvered Box. Very beautiful round silvered box, diameter 9 cm, height 4.5 cm. It is heavy for it’s size, weighing about 330 grams. Made by Asahi Shoten (Asahi Shoten Kobe Yokohama), with their trade mark of the rising sun on the bottom of the box. The lid is relief carved with an intricate design of birds in a tree with the moon rising behind clouds. To the edges of the box, there is a depiction of bamboo shoots and leaves. It has a little dent to the underside of the base – see photograph 6, and the silvering is worn, but other than that, it is a beauty. We are currently emptying attics and sheds where the family has hoarded for decades, so some interesting stuff is turning up – with quite a few vintage but unused items amongst the treasures. So, if this is the sort of thing you are interested in, it might be worth keeping an eye on the listings for a while…… Will be carefully packed to foil the postmen. Most customers are great, even when things go wrong, as they sometimes will. Our Feedback is good, especially considering that most of the things we sell are delicate breakable vintage items. I post daily, unless the car breaks down or we’re flooded, or the mice running this computer escape from their little wheel, or I have a terrible hangover from celebrating with Krug Champagne our latest e bay sale, or something. All our prices are in Pounds Sterling, the currency used on our small island. NOT dollars, Moon Tokens or little Glass Beads. We live in a house heated by log fires………. Yes, I know that sounds stroppy, but its either make this clear at the beginning or lose the will to live……….. If you don’t, and the item goes missing, I’ll send you the proof of posting so that you can make a claim from the post office. But don’t rely on this. We will only post to ITALY on an INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR service – far to much goes missing otherwise. The post office will not insure delicate items……….. The dear of them………. It is your responsibility to read the listing properly. VINTAGE OR ANTIQUE ITEMS…… Will, funnily enough, probably not look as if they were made yesterday. Our Vintage and Antique items will have age related wear. We will detail any damage, or serious wear – we will also let you know if the item is, in fact, in mint condition. We would like paying for items you have bought, this is the usual arrangement between buyers and sellers……….. Preferably within 7 days……. If you can’t do that for any good reason, let us know……. Please, we don’t bite, much. Tell you it is Gold when it is Brass, Get the maker wrong i. E Wedgewood instead of Marks and Spencers or something similar. Post Office Exorbitant Price Hike……….. Whilst you might think that four out of five on the dsr ratings if you bother to fill them in……… I never do I must admit is good, e bay don’t think the same way. Only 5/5 is ok with them. We do our best to be fair, but we really can’t help the post office charges. We can control when we post items, but once in the hands of the post office, there isn’t much we can do……… The item “Antique Asahi Shoten Japanese Silvered Box c 1930s Meiji Period A Rare Beauty” is in sale since Sunday, April 7, 2019. This item is in the category “Antiques\Asian/Oriental Antiques\Japanese\Other Japanese”. The seller is “phileasfox1″ and is located in builth wells, Powys. This item can be shipped worldwide.

RARE Fine Beautiful Miniature Meiji Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Vase Signed MIWA
RARE Fine Beautiful Miniature Meiji Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Vase – Signed MIWA. A very RARE beautiful antique miniature cloisonne vase with design of two colorful butterflies all done in very thick silver wire as well as super fine cloisons down to the feet. Super high gloss black ground shows every speck of dust and reflects like a mirror. Brass top and bottom rims with wonderful patina from age. Hard to photo this little guy, so please review them all. This vase exhibits very high standard of fine Japanese hand craftsmanship. Signed on base with mark of MIWA TOMISABURO, dating to the Golden Age Period. So rare, I had to dust off my old Coben and Ferster Japanese Cloisonne, History, Techniques and Appreciation, First Edition 1982 to find an example – Page 211, Plate 40. My last photo shows this mark clearly. This antique vase is in excellent original condition. Digital camera picks up some pin pricks in enamel from when made. One spot about size of three pin pricks but could not get to show in a photo. Digital camera of high gloss black picks up everything. Nothing visible in hand. Normal wear to base rim. Vase displays very beautifully. The recurring white spot is flash. Cabinet size at approximately 2 9/16 tall. Very solid, well made little vase. RARE opportunity to acquire a work of art from a master of Japanese cloisonne. Please see photos as an integral part of this description. Sometimes the camera catches what I don’t. From my own personal collection, this fine vase is gorgeous in hand and would be an excellent addition to your own cloisonne collection. All reasonable offers considered. Please check my other auctions. I pack very promptly and securely. The item “RARE Fine Beautiful Miniature Meiji Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Vase Signed MIWA” is in sale since Monday, January 27, 2020. This item is in the category “Antiques\Asian Antiques\Japan\Vases”. The seller is “thsant” and is located in Kirkland, Washington. This item can be shipped worldwide.
