Made in England during the reign of Queen Victoria in around 1840 from fine quality mahogany with inlaid decoration. Two short drawers over three long drawers with wonderful brass handles. Made to beautiful large proportions and to a very high standard, theyll stand very proud in any room. The mahogany has the most wonderful glow and patina created over the last 200 years – Its bursting with character and has some chips and small bits of missing veneer. ANTIQUE German Bisque Bathing Beauty DOUBLE FIGURE / PAIR. By Galluba & Hoffman RARE & LOVELY! & ribbon bathing suits (frail), mohair wigs. Appx 6″ x 3″ x 2.5. One of the rarest & most desirable of Galluba & Hoffman’s bathing beauties from the 1920s. Two full figured ladies, one standing with right arm out & left draped over the back of her companion, who’s seated on a two-step green seat, one leg pointed out & away from seat, the other leg bent & foot back to bottom step. Standing lady has pink molded & painted ballet-type shoes; seated lady has blue ones. It’s unusual to have original suits, even if frail. Well-marked on base (see last photo). Some almost inevitable old minor damage: standing figure has old repaired fracture on her left shoulder where the arm joins–the suit strap covers it; original silk net bathing suits are frail & worn/torn in several places; otherwise excellent. A tour-de-force example of figurine making from the Art Deco period. A gorgeous, so rare & lovely piece to add to your collection! This was the crown jewel of my late husband’s collection. Rare Victorian Architects Artist Plan Chest Possibly Arts and Crafts. This is a beautiful example of a plan chest with lovely age related patina. The are lots of knocks and bumps but this is just age related wear and tear, that adds to its charm. The original stain/lacquer is still in evidence and it has been lovingly waxed with Liberon polish and has a lovely depth of colour. This plan chest is very heavy and has been put on industrial castors to make it easier to move about but these could easily be removed or replaced with more vintage looking ones.
