A beautiful rare German Hanau solid silver and mother of pearl box. It is hallmarked with the German Hanau marks for Simon Rosenau. I would date this piece to c1900. It has been beautifully designed with the lid being decorated with cherubs. It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs, the inside is clean and gilded. 1.5 inches (4cms) across by 0.5 inch (1.5cms) tall and weighs 26 grams. The lovely moulded fall front cover lifts to reveal a writing surface and a fitted interior of pigeon holes and miniature drawers. The base fitted with two long drawers with lovely brass swing handles. All raised upon carved supports, plain stretchers and block feet. Made to a lovely quality and to beautiful proportions it would grace any room. The oak has a wonderful glow and patina created over the 80 years. The lovely swan neck pediment with three brass finials stands proudly above a glazed door flanked by turned column supports with a tiny ivory pull handle. The oak cabinet with a fitted door, lock and key and raised upon a plinth base. The lovely dial painted with floral spandrels, Roman numeral hours and outer minutes. A true antique, it would very stand proud in any room. Then oak has a wonderful patina and rich glow, created over the last two centuries. She has beautiful blue flirty eyes with real fur upper lashes and lower painted lashes. She has an open mouth with row of upper teeth and nice red accents at the corners of her eyes and nostrils. She also has pierced ears with no ear flakes. She is on her original kid leather body with really nice bisque lower arms – no cracks, chips, or repairs. She is dressed in a wonderful antique dress with vintage underclothes, antique socks and shoes (left shoe buckle missing).
